New Writing, edited by John Lehmann, was a series of anthologies of short fiction and extracts of longer works. The anthologies were intended to promote the best new fiction of the season and often to promote other Hogarth Press authors. Included in this issue was work by W. H. Auden, Hugh MacDiarmid, and Bertolt Brecht.
