Graves' first book of poems to be published by the Hogarth Press, this collection consists mostly of religious and philosophical verse. Graves's early poetry has received some critical attention, including a monograph by Frank Kersnowski. More usually the poetry is addressed as a precursor to Graves's more well-known fictional and autobiographical writings.  The cover jacket for this edition was by William Nicholson.
