Gordon Baxter thanks the press for their letter (MS 2750/552/48) and for their permission for the use of an extract of Modern Fiction from The Common Reader. He asks if he could reduce the passage to 365 words for a smaller fee. He refers to the copyright act of 1911 and that his collection is subject to it. He hopes they will agree to a reduced fee as he is anxious for this passage to reach a wide audience
