Letter from The Hogarth Press to Julia Strachey (11/07/1932)

Library:

University of Reading, Special Collections

The Hogarth Press informs Julia Tomlin [married name] that B. W. Huebsch of the Viking Press is willing to publish Cheerful Weather for the Wedding in America. The terms are a 10% royalty for Strachey, no higher, and that Strachey will give Huebsch an option for her next book. The Press had told Huebsch neither the Press nor Strachey would likely agree, and Huebsch had offered a 15% royalty on 5000 copies if the next book was marketable and longer than this current one. The Press recommends Strachey accepting the terms and tells her they will get better terms for the next book. The Press asks for her response by the end of the week, while Huebsch still remains in London. The Press notes that Huebsch wants to tell Strachey that he enjoyed the book.
