Dear Simpson,

HAMPSON: O PROVIDENCE

I have reread the MS[manuscript] and think that you have certainly improved it a great deal.  The third part is much pulled together and the feeling of drag has quite gone out of it.  I again felt t [sic] that it was a remarkable book, and I hope it will have the success which it deserves.

I think we had better start printing as early as possible.  I am writing to Savage to put through the agreement and to Knopf to let him know what we are doing.

Yours sincerely
