September 27th, 1949.

Dear Gerry,

I took the liberty of opening your letter to Ian as he is in Italy and hopes to be there for another ten days or so. I know I am safe in sending you a copy of THE BODY with his love, but the V.W. is not yet ready and doesn’t look like being so for a month or so. It will probably come in on the 24th of December. Your name shall, however, be recorded among the faithful.

I hope all goes well.

Yours ever,
