Dear Sirs,

 

DAVIES: LIVE AS WE HAVE KNOWN IT

 

We have to thank you for your letter of 19 December and we shall be obliged if you will give us an estimate for printing this book, as follows, showing for each item separately. The book is to be Crown 8vo. The Ms[Manuscript] is enclosed herewith.

 

Composition in Caslon Old Face 12 pt set solid. Length of line 20 ems. Number of lines in page excluding heading 31. Headings in small caps. Right hand headings to be titles of characters.

 

Machining       alternatively 1500 and 2000 copies on paper to be supplied by us

 

Blocks               Making 10 blocks (see List of Illustrations in copy) from photographs enclosed. In two cases (marked in list of ill illustrations) the blocks must be made small enough to print the two portraits side by side on one page; in the other cases the blocks should be full page illustrations  Printing alternatively 1500 and 2000 copies on note[?] art paper to be supplied by you.

 

Jacket               setting and printing from copy to be supplied by us alternatively 1500 and 2000 copies on art paper to be supplied by you. One of the blocks used in the book will be printed on the jacket.

 

We shall be obliged if you will be good enough to let us know how long you would take to supply proofs after receiving the order and how long to complete after receiving the proofs finally revised for press.
