Dear Woolf,

I have found a man in this village who is supposed to be an artist. These are his work. But as I fear they are not satisfactory I am sending originals from which the  printer can take make better sketches.

Map i I suggest as frontispiece. A footnote of a sentence on p. 3 of Chap iii should refer the reader to this map.

Maps ii iii iv & v should be in the middle of Chap[ter]. IV.

[[2]]

Map vi should be at the end of Chap[ter]. xiv and the last page of that chap[ter]. (in my own or my wife's handwriting) should be replaced by the new letterpress attached to Map. vi.

Yours | Norman Leys [signature]

If Map i isnt [sic] well enough done, as I fear is the case, it should be inserted opposite page 3 Chap iii
