Dear Sirs,

"KENYA"

I enclose the MS of a book, "Kenya", and shall be obliged for an estimate for printing alternatively 1050 and 1550 copies, and binding 500 copies. Please note that the MS as sent to you is not quite complete; there are two chapters, approximately 16000 words to come [comma crossed out]; will you allow for these in your estimate which will of course therefore be itself only approximate. Will you also allow for a page of "Contents" in front and four pages of additional matter at end?

The book should be medium 8vo [octavo], and I should like it to follow closely in style, type, and paper the "LETTERS OF STEPHEN REYNOLDS" which you printed for us. It should be bound in cloth, but of less smooth texture than in the "LETTERS", with gilt lettering on spine. Will you also estimate for jacket on coloured paper similar in style to that which you printed for "EARLY IMPRESSIONS"?

The book will contain three full-page maps. They will be quite simple line drawings. If I sent you the rough tracings of these could you get them redrawn and the blocks made, or would you prefer me to get that done here?

The last two chapters of the book xxx [3 illeg. letters crossed out] will be completed and ready for printing next week, and the tracings of the maps will be ready in two weeks time. Could you let me know how long you would take to complete the work? I should like to publish the book early in October.

Yours faithfully | Leonard Woolf [signature]

Will you also note that there is to be an Appendix consisting of No.2 on pages 6 and 7 of enclosed White Paper and No 4 on pp. 8-11 of the same White Paper?
