21st November, 1936.

Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter of November 20th, we now send you our formal permission to quote the passage agreed upon with Miss Sackville-West from ALL PASSION SPENT in "L'ANGLAIS VIVANT", subject to the usual acknowledgements to author and publisher.

With reference to our previous letter in regard to the quotation from THE LIGHTHOUSE, by Virginia Woolf, we should be glad if you would inquire of your Paris House what the position now is in regard to this. In April of this year, we received a request from Professor Carpentier, asking for permission to include a passage from THE LIGHTHOUSE in the next issue of "L' ANGLAIS VIVANT". We gave permission, and since then, have heard nothing further. I should be glad to know whether the extract has in fact been included.

Yours faithfully, | THE HOGARTH PRESS. | MANAGER.
