Dear Madam,
Thank you for your letter of January 12th giving us the rights to reproduce in our Manual of English Literature the two sections specified from Virginia Woolf's "ORLANDO" and "TO THE LIGHTHOUSE". We find now that for the present we shall be able to include only the extract from "TO THE LIGHTHOUSE" - the actual text being Section 17, p. 129, line 25: "'But what have I done with my life?' thought Mr. Ramsay".... to p. 173, line 5: "...her shoulder, already the past." - for which we understand you[*r*] fee is 5 guineas. We will give you further particulars of the book with the cheque, and will, of course, give full acknowledgement to Mrs. Woolf and yourselves in the book.
Faithfully yours, | W[illia]m. COLLINS SONS & CO. LTD. | [unidentified initial] Parrish. [signature]
