Dear Mr Knopf,

I have consulted Mr Forster about the enclosed contract, and I am returning it to you, as there are one or two small points which he wishes to be altered. They are as follows:

(1) Mr Forster wishes to delete all the words in Clause VI from "(which limit in case of ..." in line 6 to the end of the Clause.

(2) In Clause IX, line 1, Mr Forster wishes to substitute the words "three years" for the words "one year".

(3) Mr Forster also wishes me to point out that, although he passes Clause VII which assigns you the serial rights and 50% of the sums accruing from such rights, he only does so because the book is not a valuable property and he does not want to raise more than the minimum of objections.

Would you be good enough, if you agree to the above alterations, to return the contract amended?

Would you be good enough to let me know whether it would be possible for you to supply us with any copies of the book in sheets when it is printed by you, and, if so what you would charge for (a) 250 copies and (b) 500 copies, and when you could supply them. The book is selling so well that although we printed a large edition and distributed the type, expecting to cover all demands, it looks as if we may find it just run out of print.
