26/2/[19]23

Dear Sir

We wrote to you on December 14th of last year with reference to the advance payment for TOLSTOI'S LOVE LETTERS  Although we particularly asked for a reply by return of post we have as yet heard nothing from you.

We wish to point out that by our Agreement with you we should have received 25 dollars in advance and 25 dollars on the day of publication: as yet we have received no payment of any sort.

We should be exceedingly grateful if you would look into this matter and let us have your reply immediately as at the end of March we make up our books for the year and pay our authors.

We should also be glad to receive some account from you of the sales of THE GENTLEMAN FROM SAN FRANCISCO.

Yours faithfully
