Letter from The Hogarth Press to William Plomer (19/03/1951)

Library:

University of Reading, Special Collections

Archival Folder:

The Hogarth Press informs William Plomer that the New Rhodes Library had been launched last autumn at 5/-. The profit margin was small, but the authors had helped by accepting a 5d royalty at 8.3%. Increases in manufacturing costs and cost of paper have made the Press increase the published price to 6/-, which will allow the Press to pay a 10% royalty on the published price and 5% on exported copies or 50%+ discount. The Press hopes Plomer approves this for Sado (to be published in July), and if so, to return a copy of this letter with his signature down next to the word "Approved".

Typescript letter signed by [unidentified signature].
