Dear Sirs,
WOOLF: COMMON READER SERIES I & II.
We are in receipt of your letter of May 14th and note your comments with regard to delays in delivery. We are sorry to let you down in this way, but we have been continually harassed with Stationery Office work.
When we tell you that in addition to working through the Easter Holidays we also worked on the two days holidays for V.E.[Victory Day in Europe] you will realise the pressure that has been brought to bear upon us. We were very late in starting plate making and printing of the above volumes, but we are making arrangements to complete the printing by the end of this month. The job may take some little time to check and pack, but we should be able to despatch during the first week in June. We regret it is impossible to do any better and hope your binders can accommodate this delayed delivery date.
Yours faithfully, | Percy Lund, Humphries & Co, Ltd. | EH [signature initialled by hand]
