H. C. Coaten, Esq.,
The Garden City Press Ltd.,
Letchworth,
Herts.

2nd July, 1940.

Dear Mr. Coaten,

Thank you very much for your letter of the 28th. I am delighted to hear that you are now fully engaged on national work at your firm. I think it can be said that the Hogarth Press is also endeavouring to pull its weight, by maintaining culture and developing its exports.

I shall be very glad to see you tomorrow at 12 o’clock, and we can then take up one or two points about Ali together. We had already decided that the best plan would be to take the Censor’s advice about the doubtful passages. I am anxious to get this settled as soon as possible, as I have been warned I may myself be called away for some special work at any moment.

Yours sincerely,
