Thank you very much for your letter of the 18th, enclosing the cheque for 12 guineas and the copy of the cable you sent to Cairo. I am glad to agree with you that this now settles an unpleasant development which I was sincerely anxious to prevent affecting the relations of the Hogarth Press with the British Council. Once we have the actual number of Citadel with the apology in it, we can consider it all dead and buried.
It was very nice to have that talk with you, and I hope we shall be able to carry it on on some slightly more convivial occasion one day after Christmas.
