Leonard Woolf, Esq.,
Monks House,
Rodmell,
Near Lewes, Sussex.

November 2nd, 1950.

Dear Mr. Woolf,

I enclose Stephen Spender's appreciation of The Waves, which came this morning from Mr. David Herbert of Penguin Books. They are proposing to print it on the inside front cover and would be glad to have your approval. I understand that it has already gone to the printer.

Mr. Herbert rang up last week and said that they liked your blurb very much, but that they felt that as Stephen Spender's had materialised, they ought to use that. They hoped you would agree. Mr. [Ian Macnaghten] Parsons asked me to tell you this.

Yours sincerely,
